Posts
This glass system gives you the familiarity of posts you’d see with traditional railing, with the openness of glass. Posts work on stairs or landings, give you multiple finish options, and are straightforward to install. Safe and stylish, there’s a reason posts have been the glass system standard for years.
This outdoor glass railing system effortlessly displays the gorgeous mountainous regions beyond.

A Timeless, Architectural Look
When you want a modern look with maximum flexibility, Glass Posts are an easy choice. With easy-to-install posts and clips, this system adapts well to decks, balconies, and interior overlooks. It pairs well with stair flights and plays nicely with wood or metal handrails. If you want a traditional glass option, an array of finish choices, and a cost‑effective way to get glass railing for your next project, this is the system.
Safety: Above and Beyond
Tempered, monolithic or laminated glass combined with sturdy metal posts and stainless steel clips means your glass post system is safe and strong. An added handrail creates an even stiffer, sturdier system. When installed correctly, our Posts glass system is certified by the ICC.
As always, we custom-engineer your system for your project and code. We’ll set the glass thickness, post widths, handrail, and more to deliver a stable glass railing that lets your view stay wide open.
Quick and Easy Installation
With posts, installation is straightforward. Just make sure everything is level, tightened, and at the right angles. Installation is as simple as mounting your posts, setting your glass panels the clips, then installing the handrail (if you’ve ordered one).
Even easier? Use our Certified Installers for a professional install from stairs to railing.
For a Strong, Clear Guard
Choose Barrier Posts
Get extra-thick glass and powder-coated posts to create a sleek and extra-safe barrier. The glass panels rise higher than the posts for a clean, unobstructed edge with no handrail. Great for level areas like decks, balconies, and overlooks, Barrier Posts are a minimalist solution to maximize safety.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, when designed to your project. We set glass thickness, post count/spacing, and handrail details with your Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) under the applicable IRC/IBC code.
A cap rail is often recommended for stiffness and edge protection. Many commercial or high‑load conditions require a continuous top cap. Your drawings will indicate what’s required.
Stairs always require a graspable handrail. Choose a graspable cap rail on the glass or a separate wall‑mounted handrail, kept continuous across flights and landings.
Powder‑coated aluminum posts perform well in most climates. In harsh/coastal areas, specify premium coatings and stainless accents for added protection.
Glass panels may be up to 4 feet wide, also our most common width. That said, panel width and post spacing vary by glass type and code. Your shop drawings will show exact dimensions for each opening.
Many independent contractors and DIYers install with our documentation. Through our nationwide network of experienced Certified Installers, you can find a professional familiar with Viewrail systems in your region.
Orders ship in protective crates, labeled to match the drawings for easier staging on site. Your rep will provide a delivery timeline based on your location and scope.
Your order may qualify for Viewrail Delivery, where we deliver on our own trucks with knowledgable drivers who can make sure it arrives safely, confirm that you're not missing anything, and can answer questions.
Use a pH‑neutral glass cleaner and a soft microfiber cloth. Avoid abrasive pads or harsh chemicals. Hydrophobic coatings are available to reduce water spots and fingerprints.
