Mono Goes Full Minimalist
With FLIGHT Mono Select, we’ve removed the tread-support brackets from view entirely. This means that the ONLY things you see are the stringer and treads. Nothing else. This update delivers an even more minimalistic aesthetic, and adds to the magic of floating stairs.
This move doesn’t just hide brackets, it changes the relationships of the treads to the stringer. Rather than mounted up and away from the stringer, the treads sit back into and over the stringer, appearing to come straight out of the steel. This creates a much sleeker profile, with the stringer partially hidden and receding into the background. Now, the treads can take center stage as they float up and down, while the stringer plays a true supporting role.
From the bottom of the flight of stairs and from underneath, now,all you see is natural, premium hardwoods, and a single line of steel. From above, the stringer is completely obscured by the treads.
Hidden Connections
It’s not just the brackets that are hidden. Stringer connections to the wall, floor, and even platforms and landings are now out of sight as well. A “birdmouth” connection to platforms means you won’t see stringers holding them up. And, the wall plates and floor plates are covered so that the mono stringer appears integrated with the surrounding architecture.
