Integrated, Seamless Luxury
A modern railing solution for staircases, our patent-pending Recessed Handrail kit adds a refined, intentional element that becomes part of the architecture. With luxury elements like wood, metal, or leather, create a high-end design that's uniquely yours. Plus, with integrated LEDs you can add soft, functional illumination while keeping the look crisp and minimal.

Why Builders Love It
Until now, recessed handrails have required builders to invent a workaround onsite or engineers to design a solution from scratch. Viewrail's Recessed Handrail is a fully-kitted solution designed for both new and existing walls. Predictable, repeatable, and easier to install, builders can deliver a high-end look without the hassle and complexity of traditional solutions.

Frequently Asked Questions
General
Yes. This is designed as a fully kitted system that can be utilized in an existing wall or a new wall (planning and wall conditions will determine what’s required).
Handrail requirements vary by jurisdiction and application. Viewrail can provide engineering details for your conditions, and the system has been tested and signed off by a professional engineer.
Ideally during framing. The system uses a wall notch cutout in the stud which is best accomplished during the framing phase.
Options include wood, metal, or leather-wrapped handrails, plus multiple finish approaches for the recessed extrusion (including vinyl/powder coat and other insert/finish options). Work with your project designer to explore our full material and finish offerings and decide which is right for your space.
Set lengths are available up to 20' (your final specs are confirmed during engineering).
LEDs
The system is dimmable with compatible drivers/controllers and supports approximately 2400K–6500K color temperature options, depending on the strip specified.
24V DC. Your 120V AC line feeds a driver/power supply that converts to 24V DC for the LED strips, with a conduit to protect against the steel. We will specify the exact location for the power supply as well as lead length for the connection to your LED strips.
To repair any damaged lights, you'll need to replace the entire affected strip.
Our extrusion makes it easy to add LEDs into the available slot at a later time, but it's always easier to do up front.
