Add a warm, welcoming feel throughout your living space with integrated LED lighting. Illuminate the natural wood tones of your treads, while lighting the way for all who use them.
Dimmable, dotless, and with adjustable temperature, our design seamlessly integrates wiring and connects directly to your power systems. Control with a switch or app.

Integrated directly into the handrail, LED lights let your railing system shine day and night. Whether you want glass or cable railing, add a luxurious touch to your system.
Beautifully light your railing from the top down, with LED strips that are engineered to be invisible by day, and add a soft glow to guide your way in the evening.

Integrate LEDs into any FLIGHT system, any Signature Cable Handrail, or any Glass Railing metal top cap.
See More LED IdeasOur systems are engineered to meet or exceed the guard and handrail requirements that apply to your project, and several carry ICC Evaluation Service Reports (ESRs). Final authority always rests with your local building official, so tell us which code your jurisdiction has adopted and we'll design to it and share the engineering data with your submittal.
Yes. We supply coordinated shop drawings for your project, and your rep can include calculation packages and state-specific documentation when your local building department requires them.
The more you can send up front, the faster design moves. Most useful is a typical plan set, with your markups on it if you have them. Beyond that:
If all you have is an idea, a few photos and some measurements are enough to start.
That depends on your local code. Use a licensed electrician and follow whatever your jurisdiction requires.
Yes, the lighting system should be on its own breaker. On interior FLIGHT Mono all low voltage wiring stays enclosed inside the steel stringer, so the only visible work is the line voltage feed.
It comes down to grip requirements and the look you're after. The 6004 has two finger slots and suits commercial projects or any stair needing a dedicated graspable profile. The 6000 Mission and the 6200 are clean rectangular profiles, and the 6084 has a wide top with an inward finger recess. Across profiles, the 2205 stainless options are the ones rated for coastal locations.
A handrail is the graspable element you hold going up and down stairs. A top cap, also called a cap rail, ties the panels together so the guard stays put even if one breaks. In many designs the top of the guard doubles as the handrail, as long as it meets handrail usability rules.
Any FLIGHT stair system, any Signature cable handrail, and any glass railing metal top cap. Under-tread lighting picks up the grain and tone of the wood. Handrail lighting washes the run from above. The Viewrail default package is dimmable and tunable white.
Yes. Ours sets the strip to one side so light falls from the handrail rather than down through the panel. Top caps that light through the glass pick up its tint and throw a blue or green cast. We recommend a handrail wall termination on each level run to manage the LED wiring.
Not the standard profile. We have run wider custom versions that read much like the glass LED top cap, so ask your rep if that is the look you are after.
They can. There's a groove in the base channel sized to house the proper strip. But lighting the panel from below shows every flaw and fingerprint in the glass, so we recommend the LED top cap instead, which lets the light work outside the glass entirely.
The Viewrail default package is dimmable and tunable white from 2400K to 6500K. Warm enough for an evening, cool enough to read by.
The Viewrail default package can be controlled from the mobile app or with wireless rocker switches. Two switches come with each system and you can add as many as you like. They fit standard wall switch boxes, so no hardwired switch is needed.
Not as a specified option. Motion sensing is technically possible with these strips, but it would take a lighting integrator you supply to modify the system for it, and support from us would be limited.
Design, engineering, the system hardware, your finish selections, and any recommended handrail or brackets. We'll also note substrate requirements and share the install guides. Everything comes from one place rather than being pieced together from separate suppliers.
Send us what you have, even if that's just photos and rough dimensions. We'll come back within one business day to walk through next steps and work out what else we need.
Orders ship in protective crates with components labeled to match your drawings, which makes staging on site far easier. Your rep will give you a delivery timeline based on your location and scope. Some orders qualify for Viewrail Delivery, where we bring everything on our own trucks with drivers who can confirm your order on arrival and answer questions.
Either your own crew or ours. Many general contractors and stair crews install from our documentation. If you'd rather not lift a finger, our nationwide network of Certified Installers have trained on site specifically on Viewrail systems, and choosing one adds a two-year labor and workmanship warranty.
Six steps. We scope the project and budget, take site measurements and review them, engineer the system and get your approval on drawings, produce everything in Indiana, deliver, then install and walk the finished work with you. Nothing gets figured out on site.
Days rather than weeks for most projects. A straight stair often finishes in one to five days depending on scope and how ready the site is. Railing runs vary with length and complexity. Your installer will confirm a schedule when they measure.
Yes. We always recommend a licensed electrician make the final connections.
For stair systems, we supply:
Your electrician brings 120V power to our power supply, along with any conduit or junction boxes your code requires.
For handrail, interior or exterior, we supply the LED strips and a Job Summary with the wattage requirements. Depending on the specifics of the job, we may be able to supply a power supply for handrail at additional cost.
On FLIGHT Mono we pre-install the LED strips in your treads and fit the mating wiring harness inside the stringer, so every low voltage connection is made and housed in the stringer before it ships. Your electrician runs a 120V line through the stringer to the power supplies. On all other stair systems the harness and low voltage components go in on site.
The strips run on 24V DC. A 120V line feeds a power supply that converts AC to DC. Amperage and wattage vary by system, and we calculate them for your job and supply accordingly.
The top. Any wiring entering or exiting the stringer should do so at its highest point, the header. That's a requirement on all exterior FLIGHT systems. If your project needs an exception, raise it with your project manager.
Handrail lighting runs into variables that are impossible to see at quoting or design: available mounting locations, wire management limits, and whether the job needs IP rated components. Once we've supplied your wattage Job Summary and the site conditions are known, we may have options available at additional cost.
Leave it open until everything is paired to your tunable white controller, by switch or by mobile app, and you've confirmed the system works end to end. Pairing only happens once 120V power is connected, and app control needs a wireless network, so plan on your electrician being there for it.
No. Adding LEDs takes an extensive list of modifications during production, and there's no way to make them once a stair has been built. Lighting has to be decided before your order goes into production.
Coverage follows the powder coat. Superior Performance (AAMA 2605) powder coat is our exterior and coastal grade. High Performance (AAMA 2604) powder coat is intended for interior and sheltered exterior work. Structural coverage is separate and varies by product, so check the full warranty for your system.
Powder-coated aluminum performs well in most climates, coastal included, as long as the coating is right. Within five miles of saltwater, specify Superior Performance (AAMA 2605) powder coat, with 2205 stainless for the infill and exposed hardware. High Performance (AAMA 2604) is the right choice for interior and sheltered exterior work, but it is not coastal-rated.

Yes, though depending on the location there may be extra steps to weatherproof things properly, including the strips themselves and any controllers or power supplies that aren't IP rated.
If any part of a strip fails, the strip gets replaced as a unit.
